Abstract

There are many past studies have look at students results at the secondary school level and comparing their results in higher levels. Perception of good performance of good students during school level were expected to continue in their higher education. In accounting professional exam like ACCA, past study has shown that only certain of students based on result in school should be allowed to join this course as many of students were not able to complete their studies. The purpose of this study is to find the relationship of the student’s achievement in secondary school based on the total numbers of A's and A's in certain subject at SPM level results with the performance of students in accounting professional examination ACCA in KUPTM. Methodology used in this study is by collecting students' data of Institute Professional Studies in KUPTM database and then analysed using SPSS. Our results shown that mostly students with number of 6A’s in SPM level and above is capable to complete professional accounting courses within time given however students with 5A’s and lower than that were more struggling to complete the exam until some of them have withdraw from the course. We also found students who got A's achievement in Additional Mathematics subject and from science stream background at SPM level perform better in accounting professional examination ACCA.
