Abstract

Internship placement of students in the industry or organization is a compulsory for some education field as a requirement set in Ministry of Higher Education policy. It is a requirement for students to fulfil in order to graduate their study in universities or colleges. Recently, number of internship students at Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA (KUPTM) are increasing that caused the management of internship program become uncontrolled. Managing student internship and placement of KUPTM students is a task that needs to be handle in systematic and efficient way. Therefore, an efficient and proper system is needed to assist internship coordinator in managing students’ internship records. The aim of this study is to improve the process of managing students for internship placement using a new proposed system called Internship Placement Management System (IPMS). Incremental model were used to develop the IPMS. The development uses Laravel framework, HTML, PHP and JavaScript programming languages and MySQL as the backend of the system. The system focuses in modules such as managing of the users’ information records, processing internship application and confirmation, updating continuous progress from the students, assignment of academic supervisor by the coordinator, students’ internship performance evaluation and reporting. The system is expected to be useful and helpful in keeping track and managing the complete process of internship placement in Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA (KUPTM).
