Abstract
There have been many studies on Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) incorporated with the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL) for the past years. This summary highlights important discoveries from multiple studies that investigate the challenges of training pre-service teachers in ESL and introducing CALL in ESL environments. The introduction of the review discusses the challenges that ESL teachers face when integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT), highlighting problems like technical limitations, a lack of training, and resistance to change. The readiness of pre-service ESL teachers to adopt CALL is then investigated. This reveals their doubts and emphasises the necessity of solid technology integration training programmes within ESL teacher education. The attitudes and accomplishments of pre-service teachers are examined in the context of CALL implementation, revealing students' generally positive attitudes towards technology and its potential to improve learning outcomes. Examining ESL university teachers' perspectives on CALL reveals the complex stance that teachers have taken in embracing technology-driven language teaching techniques. The review also discusses challenges that pre-service teachers face about infrastructure and resource limitations when implementing CALL programmes. The synopsis concludes by making recommendations for future research, such as the creation of extensive teacher training programmes, increased accessibility to technology, and further investigation of cultural factors that affect CALL adoption. The overall message of this abstract is that collaborative efforts are required to increase the effectiveness and impact of CALL integration in ESL teaching.
