Abstract

Purpose This study aims to investigate the eff ects of fi nancial literacy, fi nancial behaviour and fi nancial stress on awareness ofinvestment scams among retirees. Design/methodology/approach Using a questionnaire survey, data was distributed to 200 retirees. A total of 53 responses were obtained. The data wassubsequently analysed using PLS-SEM version 3 software. Findings Findings indicated that while fi nancial literacy has a signifi cant infl uence on awareness, there is no conclusive evidenceto support the relationship between fi nancial behaviour and fi nancial stress on awareness. These results highlightedthe critical need to strengthen fi nancial literacy among retirees as a prevention mechanism for them to avoid frombeing scammed.
